I write anywhere, at anytime, about anything. What started initially as a simple mundane habit slowly metamorphosed into my passion. Apparently, from an early age, my teachers seemed to have been vigilant in finding this spark of writing in me. I remember them encouraging me to take part in literary events and competitions that challenged my English proficiency and improve the way I expressed myself. I am eternally grateful to them for their guidance and belief in me.
Although I was a Science student, my love for language never faded. I was always fond of organising events, leading school activities, and hosting programmes where articulate communication was essential. I believed that the ability to play with words or language was no less important than knowing science equations and formulas.
The turning point came in 2002 when I got third in the National Essay Competition under the Higher Secondary School category. That achievement marked the beginning of my real taste into writing. It boosted my confidence and led to roles as a student editor for both school and college newsletters. Later, with each article I edited and every piece I published in the mainstream media, I felt more connected to the power of the written word.
Over the years, I scribbled notes, composed poems, drafted essays, and even wrote what must have been hundreds of love letters 😂, although most of them have since gone missing. The disappearance of so many articles, once important to me, compelled me to hunt for some idea where I can archive my works safe from the erosion of time or fading memory.
In 2012, after attending the Chiphen Rigphel Project, I finally acted on that idea. I began learning the basics of blogging and website creation. I read, experimented, and made many mistakes, but with each small step, I could built something meaningful. I could eventually design a home for my thoughts, my feelings, and my quiet reflections.
That is how Dumcho Writes… came into being. It is more than just a blog. It is a living archive of my words, a space where my voice finds form and my stories are given a chance to linger. Here, I write to remember. I write to reflect. I write to share.
Because stories that are never told simply disappear.
And I am not ready to let mine be forgotten.
