S is for ‘Straight Arrow’ in the bowed world

Chanakya, an Indian Scholar was not mistaken to remark:
‘Straight trees are cut first and honest people are screwed first”. Being honest and morally upright is a kind of human attribute liked by many, pursued by a few and practiced by even littler.
Today, that once predominant quote Honesty is the best policy remain in ruins and has no scope to win a place in the heart of 21st century humans. This is so fearful that one day, another generation will either hear nothing about it or read honesty as the worst policy.

This same Earth which is approximately 4.5 billion years old has undergone a series of mutation leading to a serious miscarriage of human values. It is intoxicated with a false belief that has consequently spearheaded the corrosion of human ethics and principles at a lightning speed. Being honest and speaking truth is scary and petrifying at this moment of time because the truth is always attacked. This is not surprising because the truths are not always a sweet melody. Truth may not be always a soft ear-bud that we want to entertain through the tunnel of our auditory canal.
Thus, it is so miserable to think about this contamination in this so-called revolutionizing world. Human mind is now polluted beyond compare and no remedy can rescue it. The acceptance of wrong and abusive morals and values are mushrooming in our society. The adolescents are exposed to the ailment of such disasters further beefing up the unceasing cloning drama. After few years of time, I believe, that the world will see being straight and truthful is a human accepted crime because the world is already bowed by the cheat and crooks.

  1. Wow...this amazing post describes so eloquently my deepest fears for humanity at this moment in time.
It IS scary, isn't it...the concept of lies and cheating becoming the norm for society?
It makes a person almost afraid of retribution if they dare speak the truth.
I could never life like that.
I can't see the point of pretence. It can only eventually destroy us from within.
Oh Dumcho...do you think our world can ever change back to the way it should be?
I really hope so...for the sake of us all...

    1. Ygraine,
I am afraid the world keeps on changing itself with time. I feel going back to its original place would be challenging since whole things seem to be messed up. Honest and straightforward are targeted and those insincere are appreciated. This is has ultimately been the situation of the world in this 21st century. But I am happy, you are confident as though I am in believing that the world be peaceful place to live in.

  2. Dumcho Sir, I have extracted enough notion from your post title, "'Straight Arrow' in the bowed world" before going the content, title itself speaks a lot. You are right sir as said by Arthur Schopenhauer; "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." But now we are concerned about its third stage as we get to experience the change in people's mind. Hope everything is going well everyday. Take Care. :)

    1. Ugyen,
Thank you for substantiating your comments with the quote. This is my personal feeling that the world is becoming increasingly a small place for the honest people to live and survive. Greedy and selfish, crooked and dishonest people get an easy access when compared to the honest. Speaking truth has to certain extent become a risk and challenge because none likes speaking truth that hurts.
Yes, by the way, I am fine but quite busy.

  3. Since the day I joined my work, I have been thinking over what you have brought it here. Indeed people have changed; the way how they look at things. We're at a stage where people see crooked as straight, black as white, bad as good.... the literacy rate is increasing every year. But this appears to be taking us on a rudderless boat. Nice Read sir. Thanks

    1. The story isn't very different for me Sherab sir. I also have some shares of these experiences during my last 7 years in the service. But what to do, the world is growing into this fashion now. We are compelled to dwell in such manner.

  4. Damcho sir, as I have mention in my blog titled as Kathang Duep, we are the last degenerated human race to occupy this planet and therefore we are destined to earn our living through slaughtering animals, deceiving other fellow human beings, robbing the precious things from stupa, monastery and soon we will be consuming our the flesh of fellow human beings.

    1. I might have missed your post but I agree to your comments here. Life is certainly not an easy thing to take in our own way. We have a paradigm shift in its thinking process. Hope we will not go to the extent of gobbling ourselves.

  5. The tremor of people changing, has made us see that time has changed. In the world of play, we act as change agent. The pace at which we're changing is insanely eccentric that total outlook of the world is complicated. Nice Read Dumcho sir. Thanks.
